We believe that good leadership inspires, builds, delivers and leads. It is not surprising therefore that the following leaders have the brightest talent at leading Celtel in Zambia.

David Venn: Managing Director

Qualifications: BSc. (Hons) Telecommunications Engineering, plus MBA

Mr. Venn has over 28 years experience managing fast growing technology businesses. He has run businesses in Asia, Europe, North and South America and more recently here in Zambia. Over the years roles have included; Chief Operating Officer, President and Managing Director positions in companies that operate; Public fixed-line phones, International phone services, Cable TV, Dial-up and broadband Internet services and of course Mobile phone services. Mr. Venn also spent 12 months as a Strategic Planning consultant at the global head office of Shell International Petroleum.

Randall Hato: Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications: university degree in Business Economics, a Registered Accountant (comparable to CPA) and a Master in Business Telecommunication.

He started his career at Coopers and Lybrand in the Netherlands (currently known as PWC) and worked for a hospital on Sint Maarten as a trouble shooter, as an internal auditor for the Social Insurance Bank on Curacao, as a finance director for Antelecom (the previous long distance communication company of the Netherlands Antilles), as a revenue assurance coordinator for Telfort (at that time a subsidiary of BT) in the Netherlands. In 2000 he joined Celtel International where he was Director Business Analysis till he became Finance director at Celtel Zambia.

Gilles Kuntz: Operation Director

Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in Radio communications Engineering (ETAA) and a Technical University Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering.

Gilles has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications in France, South Pacific and Kenya. He worked on network engineering for SFR in 1994 during its GSM commercial opening in Europe, and then for CEGETEL in 1997 as Operation Manager and Quality of Service Manager. Prior to joining Celtel Zambia, he held the position of Operation Director in Celtel Kenya where he helped starting up Kencell (previous name of Celtel Kenya) in 2000 for Vivendi Telecom International.

Louis Lubala: Marketing Director

Qualifications: Masters Degree in Business Administration and an Advanced Marketing Management Degree.

Louis has been with the Celtel Group since 2004. He worked as Group Marketing Director - Market Planning at Celtel Head Office in Amsterdam before coming to Celtel Zambia as Marketing Director.

Chimango Chikwanda: Human Resources Director

Chimango Chikwanda joined CELTEL Zambia as Human Resources and Administration Director in July 2007. She has 13 years experience in Human Resources having worked in the areas of Organisation Design, Industrial Relations and Administration for KPMG, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Zambia Consolidated Coppermines and SABMiller. She held the position of HR Director for SABMiller in Zambia (Zambian Breweries Plc and its 3 subsidiaries) for 4 years prior to joining CELTEL. She was accountable for all aspects of HR, that is, Strategic HR, Industrial Relations, Employee Health and welfare, and Administration. She holds an MSc and BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick and the University of London respectively and is also part qualified ACCA. She has gained her formal HR Training from the SAB Training Institute and from various SAB competence development in-house programmes.”

James T. Museba: IT Director

Qualifications: BSc Computer Science and Mathematics, CDipAF, MBA

James held various senior management positions at African Banking Corporation and Interfin Merchant Bank of Zimbabwe before joining Celtel. He has over 15 years experience in the banking and information technology industries.
